    Oil on canvas, 41 x 58 in., 2021.

Notes from the artist: "The figures seem like camping or in the midst of a ritual; but just like a shipwreck they have arrived at an unknown place. Either literal or a mental journey; the waters they had to cross, just like their future has seemed pink and bright. They have taken the risks to cross the waters for this fantasy land where everyone is free, loved and not threatened. Just like the immigrants and refugees for a safer future. But they can not know what is awaiting them there. Still they are together, and powerful. I use inflatables as a metaphor for the ephemerality of pure joy and happiness. They are perfect symbolizers for consumerism, plastic waste, fake happiness, but primarily boats; vessels that take you away literally and/or as fantastic beings like unicorns, dragons that help you to cross boundaries. Meanwhile, representing a false sense of security."
