    This piece was created after investigating how having mental health struggles as a woman affected the relationships between my loved ones and myself. Specifically, I wanted to portray the complexity of my relationships to close family members as I dealt with feelings of depression and anxiety relating to womanhood.

    Meet the Artist

    Alayna Coverly

    Alayna Coverly is an artist working figuratively with oil paint while living in Brooklyn, NY. She has her BFA in Painting and Drawing, along with a Museum Studies certificate and a minor in Art History from Ohio University. She is now attending the New York Academy of Art where she will receive an MFA in Painting in 2023.

    Alayna is currently producing work that focuses on complex, personal relationships between loved ones while facing mental health challenges and the lasting effects of violence against women.
